The O-1 non-immigrant visa category is utilized for foreign artists, athletes, entertainers, scientists, educators and business people who wish to temporarily come to the United States to work in their field of achievement.
The “R” visa is for individuals seeking to enter the United States to work in a religious capacity on a temporary basis.
Religious workers include individuals authorized by a recognized employing entity to conduct religious worship and to perform other duties usually performed by authorized members of the clergy of that religion, and workers engaging in a religious vocation or occupation.
The H1B Visa is designed for foreign nationals seeking to work temporarily in the United States in a “specialty occupation.” Thus, this visa is designed for “professionals” seeking to work in the U.S.
The P1 Visa is utilized for internationally known artists, entertainers or athletes to participate in performances for United States employers or international employers while working through a United States agent. In order to qualify for this Visa, the performance or event must require a performer of international quality. In order to qualify under this category, entertainment groups, athletic teams and individual athletes must meet a basic standard of international recognition.
The “TN” Visa is a non-immigrant visa ideal for individuals who are citizens of either Canada or Mexico who seek to enter the United States to work in a professional capacity on a temporary basis. The TN, or TN-1 Visa was created as a result of the North American Free Trade Agreement, more commonly referred to as NAFTA.
TN’s have advantages over other types of visas depending upon your particular needs.
