Deportation

Immigration Appeals to the BIA and AAO

At Colombo & Hurd, our immigration appeals attorneys represent immigrants and organizations before a variety of immigration appellate forums including the Board of Immigration Appeals (“BIA”) as well as the USCIS Administrative Appeals Office (“AAO”).

Appeals to the BIA

Immigrants and Criminal Charges

Whether you currently have a criminal case pending, or are an immigrant who has been convicted of a crime, it is critical that you obtain legal advice due to the harsh immigration consequences of particular convictions. At Colombo & Hurd, our criminal immigration lawyers represent immigrants charged with criminal violations in order to ensure the protection of our clients' immigration status.

Immigration Court -- Deportation Defense Lawyers

At Colombo & Hurd, we represent immigrants and foreign visitors who are at risk for deportation or removal from the U.S. We have a thorough understanding of the deportation process and represent individuals in immigration court before immigration judges on a daily basis. It is our number one priority to protect our clients’ best interests and make sure no person is unjustly deported.

Motions to Reopen and Reconsider

If your removal case is denied by the local immigration court, you may still have legal options to get the result you desire. Although you can appeal the decision to an appellate court, in certain cases, it may be a better option to exercise your right to ask the court that denied your case to reopen the proceedings or reconsider its decision. Colombo & Hurd can help you determine which legal option best fits your needs after analyzing the facts and law specific to your case.

Immigration Bond

One of the most difficult situations for immigrants and anyone who cares for them is when an immigrant is detained by Immigrations Customs Enforcement (ICE).

If a family member, friend or loved one has been arrested and detained by ICE, he or she has the right to contact an immigration lawyer. At Colombo & Hurd, PL we may be able to intervene in order to seek freedom from immigration detention.

The threshold determination that is addressed in attempting to obtain an immigration bond is whether the immigrant is eligible to request a bond hearing.

Immigration Litigation in Federal Court

If you are an immigrant whose case has already been denied by a local immigration court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (“BIA”), then you may still be eligible to seek relief and win your case by taking it to federal court.

At Colombo & Hurd, our experienced attorneys can review your case to determine and advise you whether to file your case in federal court. It is critical that you receive expert advice promptly involving any potential federal claim you may have due to the complexity of this area of law and strict deadlines which may apply to your case.
